This wine was made from old vine fruit from a vineyard near Seville, close to Seville Estate Wines.
The Upper Yarra is regarded as one of the three great Cabernet-producing areas in Australia, the others being Margaret River and Coonawarra. Yarra Cabernet shows strong cassis, herbal and berry elements with sweet forward fruit and prominent but soft tannins.
On the right sites, such as this one, the Yarra also produces ripe and succulent Merlot which provides a softening and enriching element in blends.
This wine, 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot, is elegant and restrained, but with quiet power and development potential. It is already drinking delightfully for its fresh fruit characters, and will amply reward those who are patient enough to wait.
Screwcap closure. 750ml bottle.
