The shiraz used for this wine was estate grown from the Iona vineyard. The wine, post ferment, was fortified with very high quality spirit, and matured for an initial period of 14 months. The development of the wine in that time was quite pronounced, and once bottled, the wine was laid down to develop further in the bottle.
All good ports need to come together over time, and this wine is no exception. The excellent fruit character is very evident, and the transition to a rounded, integrated wine has begun. It needs time, but all good ports do.
